Joining Dior in 1996 as Artistic Director of the women’s collections, Gibraltar-born British fashion designer John Galliano's famous partnership with the brand followed a stint as Creative Director of ready-to-wear and haute couture at Givenchy. However it was at Dior that Galliano's renowned extravagance and eclecticism found it's true home. Often bringing together a diverse range of historical and cultural inspirations with a sensitivity for the delicate technicalities of haute couture, Galliano's Dior redefined the boundaries of the art and presented a new and spectacular perspective of the historic French house. Supplemented with over 300 illustrations across 448-pages, Assouline's 'Dior by Galliano' explores the designer's collections from 1996 to 2011, with particular note paid to the exceptional silhouettes he created, as captured by the likes of Steven Meisel, Annie Leibovitz, Irving Penn and Paolo Roversi.
