Sonia Rykiel Vintage Black Silk with Red & Gold Floral Lurex Surplice Bodice Midi Dress XS 0. This sensational vintage dress (1990s?) from Sonia Rykiel came from the estate of a renowned fashionista who shopped extensively at Ultimo, the legendary boutique that was known for outfitting Chicago's ""dangerously chic"" in avant-garde designer clothing. A very fine black silk chiffon serves as the matrix for a jacquard floral pattern in brilliant red, gold and black lurex. The dress has raglan sleeves and a blouson, surplice bodice that forms a V-neckline. The skirt is longer in back than in front and has a 15-inch ruffle attached at the bottom (almost like a second skirt.) It closes with a short zipper that ends at the waist. The open back closes with two large prong-set rhinestone buttons; the cuffs are embellished with the same buttons. The front of the bodice and the skirt down to the ruffle are lined in black fabric. There are some black fabric suspenders inside the bodice that look like they are original to the dress but have been removed and then replaced in a different location. I'm not sure the exact function they are meant to serve, but they probably help to customize the fit of the bodice (they have multiple buttonholes). (If anyone reading this has a clue - please send me a note.) The fabric is labeled 42% silk and 48% Lurex. There is no size tag, but the hip measurement indicates that the dress is a size 0, or XS. Please refer to the measurements for the best guidance regarding actual size and compare with a similar garment that fits you.* Approximate Measurements - Underarm chest measurement is 38"" - Waist is 26"" - Hips are 34"" - Shoulder to waist in front is 20.5"" - Center neck in back to waist is 22"" - Skirt length is 33"" in front and 37"" in back. Condition Excellent condition structurally with some loose ends of lurex popping out here and there, which is almost always the case with this type of fabric. At the very bottom edge of the skirt (the ruffle), I found one small hole and a row of several little punctures. These are hidden in the folds of the black ruffles and are not at all noticeable.
